The Red Box

So, now that I have arrived in Los Angeles, and obviousely the old days of getting public TV thrugh the cable wires are out of the question, because everything has gone digital, I need to find something to keep me entertained.

So, I do remember clearly seeing a Blockbuster when I was in Portland, but here I am in LA.  Looking for some DVDs to watch movies, and was shown a really convenient little gadget called the “RED BOX” http://www.redbox.com .  A little ATM looking machine at the corner of the store that has some of the newest movies available on DVD!  All for $1, untill 9PM the next day.  Absalutely brilliant! You can even rent online…  I had already left the US when the whole NetFlix craze started, so maybe this isn’t new, but dang.  This is SO convenient, because if your late they charge your credit card, every day after 9PM.

Only drawback is that you have to have a credit card, but whoa this is such a convenient way of getting entertainment cheap, and all the movies I missed out on when I was in Saudi and Japan.

I actually love it, and although I would prefer to have some old movies as an option.  I do think this was so far the best thing I have seen since sliced bread.
